Germany, Third Reich. A Grouping of German Medals
A German Civil Faithful Service medal for 25 years of service, a cross pattée constructed of silvered bronze with a black enamel swastika on the obverse, within an oak wreath between the arms of the cross, on a loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, measuring 41 mm (w) x 41 mm (h), and in better than extremely fine condition. A War Merit Cross Second Class without Swords, constructed of bronze in the shape of a maltese cross, on a loop for suspension from period original ribbon, the obverse pebbled with a circular raised border of oak leaves with a raised mobile swastika in the centre, the reverse with a circular raised border of oak leaves bearing the institution date “1939” in raised numbering, measuring 48 mm (w) x 48 mm (h), and in extremely fine condition. A war commemorative medal of 1870/1871, constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse depicting an Iron Cross dated “1870 1871” in the centre within a wreath, the reverse bearing the crowned royal monogram of Wilhelm, inscribed “DEM SIEGREICHEN HEERE” and “GOTT WAR MIT UNS, IHM SEI DIE EHRE” in Gothic lettering, measuring 24 mm in diameter, suspended from its mounting via a period original ribbon, and in near extremely fine condition. A bronze medal commemorating the Franco-Prussian War, the obverse bearing “DIE STADT PLATTLING IHREN FELDSOLDATEN 1870” encircling the coat of arms for the city of Plattling, the reverse bears the inscription “ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DIE 25 JAHR. GEDÄCHTNISSFEIER DES GLORREICHEN FELDZUGES 1870-71” and the date “1 September 1895,” measuring 30 mm diameter, and in extremely fine condition.
