Germany, Third Reich. A Grouping of German Medals
(Deutsche Medaillen). A grouping of Third Reich medals including an Iron Cross Second Class, with magnetic iron core, maker marked “27” for Anton Schenkls Nachfolger of Wien on the suspension ring, measuring 43.5 mm (w) x 44 mm (h), and in better than fair condition, a Knight’s Cross of The War Merit Cross with Swords, missing loop assembly for suspension, a large Maltese cross, the obverse crossed with swords between the arms of the cross and a circular raised border of oak leaves around a mobile swastika, the reverse with a circular raised border of oak leaves bearing the institution date “1939” in raised number, measuring 49 mm (w) x 48 mm (h), and in good condition, an Honour Cross of the German Mother, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, sun rays emanating between the arms from the centre applique, central medallion depicting a black enameled swastika ringed by a raised inscription of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“The German Mother”), on loop for suspension from period original ribbon, reverse inscribed with institution date of “16 Dezember 1938” and facsimile of the Führer and Reichskanzler, unmarked, measuring 35 mm (h) x 44 mm (w), and in near very fine condition, and a bronze grade Army Driver’s Proficiency Badge, constructed of magnetic bronzed metal depicting a laurel wreath and a steering wheel, missing prongs on reverse, measuring 40 mm in diameter, and in good condition.
