Germany, Third Reich. A Lot of Badges and Decorations
(Drittes Reich Abzeichen). A lot of six badges and decorations, including a Civil Service 25-Year Faithful Service Cross, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms and an oak leaf wreath joining the arms through the quadrants, the obverse bearing a central black mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 41.24 mm (w) x 45.95 mm (h), weighing 21.0 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of two pieces of red card stock, the lid bearing a silver number “25” within a cogwheel, the interior with a slotted red felt medal bed, with a maker’s label of “FRIEDRICH KELLER, METALLSCHMUCKFABRIK, OBERSTEIN”, measuring 48 mm (w) x 100 mm (l) x 15 mm (h), with some material fatigue evident to the case, in overall near extremely fine condition; two Black Grade Wound Badges, each constructed of blackened bronze, the obverse of both consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, with a central Stahlhelm on top of crossed swords, one overlaid by a mobile swastika, the reverse of both with a vertical pinback, both unmarked, one measuring 36.92 mm (w) x 44.54 mm (h) and weighing 13.2 grams, the other measuring 36.46 mm (w) x 43.92 mm (h), weighing 12.0 grams, both demonstrating loss of black finish and one with its swastika ground out, in overall fair condition; a 1933 Passau Soldier’s Day badge, constructed of bronze, horizontal pinback, the reverse maker marked “DESCHLER U. SOHN, MÜNCHEN”, measuring 34 mm (w) x 47 mm (h), in extremely fine condition; a 1934 childrens’ badge, constructed of bronze magnetic metal, horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 32 mm in diameter, in very fine condition, and; a First World War veteran’s patriotic badge, constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 22 mm (w) x 23 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
