Germany, Third Reich. A Lot of Medals
(Medaillen). A lot of three medals, including an Eastern Front Medal, constructed of silvered and patinated zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing an inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), above a crossed sword and laurel branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, unmarked, measuring 35.57 mm (w) x 44.00 mm (h), weighing 19.8 grams, with oxidation and loss of finish evident throughout, in fair condition; a War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronzed zink, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a wreated mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a wreathed date of “1939”, unmarked, measuring 48.84 mm (w) x 49.50 mm (h), weighing 20.2 grams, the cross is missing its suspension ring and oxidation and loss of finish is evident, in poor condition, and; an Honour Cross of the German Mother, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Latin Cross, the obverse with blue and white enameled arms, with a central black swastika on a white enameled disc, circumscribed by a raised inscription of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“TO THE GERMAN MOTHER”), the reverse etched with an institution date of “16. DEZEMBER 1938” and a signature of the Führer, measuring 36 mm (w) x 46 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
