Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot of Decorations
(Drittes Reich Abzeichen). A mixed lot of four decorations, including a War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronzed zink, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a wreathed date of “1939”, the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “10” for Förster & Barth, Pforzheim, measuring 49.62 mm (w) x 50.48 mm (h), weighing 21.0 grams with loss of finish evident throughout and some oxidation visible to the obverse nine o’clock arm, in very fine condition; a Sudetenland Medal, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a German national eagle clutching a raised swastika, the reverse bearing a central date of “13. MÄRZ 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), unmarked, measuring 32.29 mm in diameter, weighing 14.9 grams, in near extremely fine condition; an Ordnungspolizei Long Service Cross, I Class for 25 Years, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from a period replacement ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central Ordnungspolizei insignia in the form of an oval oak leaf wreath overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE IN DER POLIZEI” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE POLICE”), unmarked, measuring 43.70 mm (w) x 48.38 mm (h), weighing 20.0 grams, with loss of gilt finish throughout, in very fine condition, and; an Honour Cross of the German Mother, Silver Grade, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Latin Cross, the obverse with blue and white enameled arms, with the quadrants joined by radiant sun rays, with a central white enameled disc bearing a black swastika, circumscribed by a raised inscription of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“TO THE GERMAN MOTHER”), the reverse bearing an etched institution date of “16. DEZEMBER 1938” and a signature of the Führer, unmarked, measuring 35.40 mm (w) x 45.37 mm (h), weighing 12.9 grams, with minor loss of finish evident, in better than very fine condition.
