Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot of Decorations
(Drittes Reich Abzeichen). A mixed lot of three decorations, including an Anschluss Medal, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central date of “1. MÄRZ 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), unmarked, measuring 32.27 mm in diameter, weighing 13.9 grams (inclusive of ribbon), some loss of finish is evident to the medal and the ribbon is missing its pinback, in very fine condition; a Civil Service 25 Year Faithful Service Medal, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms and with its quadrants joined by an oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a black swastika, the reverse bearing a raised central inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 40.88 mm (w) x 45.44 mm (h), weighing 20.6 grams, with minor loss of finish, in very fine condition, and; an Honour Cross of the German Mother, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Latin Cross, the obverse with blue and white enameled arms, with the quadrants joined by radiant sun rays, with a central white enameled disc bearing a black swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“TO THE GERMAN MOTHER”), the reverse bearing an etched institution date of “16. DEZEMBER 1938” and a signature of the Führer, measuring 35.47 mm (w) x 46.97 mm (h), weighing 12.2 grams, with extensive scratching of enamels and bending of the suspension loop evident, in poor condition.
