Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot of Medals
(Medaillen). A mixed lot of three medals, including a War Merit Cross II Class, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, unmarked, measuring 48.89 mm (w) x 49.39 mm (h), weighing 20.2 grams, with some residue and wear evident to the swastika and surrounding area, in better than very fine condition; a West Wall Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised pillbox topped by a crossed sword and shovel and German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing an inscription of “FÜR ARBEIT ZUM SCHUTZE DEUTSCHLANDS” (“FOR WORK IN THE PROTECTION OF GERMANY”), unmarked, measuring 33.00 mm (w) x 45.31 mm (h), weighing 17.2 grams, in extremely fine condition, and; a Civil Service 25-Year Faithful Service Medal, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms and with its arms joined through the quadrants by an oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central black swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 40.88 mm (w) x 45.56 mm (h), weighing 21.7 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of two pieces of card stock with a red exterior lining, the lid bearing a silver embossed number “25” within a cogwheel, unmarked, the lid with a red felt liner, measuring 48 mm (w) x 102 mm (l) x 15 mm (h), the case missing its medal bed, in overall extremely fine condition.
