Germany, Third Reich. A Pair of Badges
(Abzeichen). A pair of badges, including a Silver Grade Wound Badge, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting an integral catch, unmarked, measuring 36.60 mm (w) x 44.26 mm (h), weighing 24.4 grams, with total loss of silver finish evident, in very fine condition, and; a HJ Proficiency Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronze, the obverse consisting of a Tyr rune, overlaid by a central mobile swastika, within a circular ring bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR LEISTUNGEN IN DER H.J.” (“FOR MERIT IN THE HJ”), the reverse with a vertical pinback, stamped with a number of “40950”, marked with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M1/101” for Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen, measuring 29.92 mm (w) x 51.36 mm (h), weighing 8.2 grams, with evidence of pin repair, in very fine condition.
