Germany, Third Reich. A Pair of Third Reich Period Medals
(Drittes Reich Abzeichen). A pair of Third reich period medals, including an Eastern Front Medal, constructed of zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a central Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse with an inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, unmarked, measuring 35.77 mm (w) x 43.84 mm (h), weighing 20.4 grams, in very fine condition, and; an Honour Cross of the German Mother in Bronze, constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Latin Cross, the obverse with blue and white enameled arms, with a central black swastika circumscribed by a raised in inscription of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“TO THE GERMAN MOTHER”), the reverse with an etched institution date of “16. DEZEMBER 1938” and a facsimile of the Führer, unmarked, measuring 35.49 mm (w) x 45.75 mm (h), weighing 14.6 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
