A grouping of three third reich period medals, awards, and decorations, consisting of
1) A War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords, “Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern”; maltese cross in bronzed alloy; on loop for suspension - marked “95” for “Adolf Scholtze, Grünwald”; with a mint and correct replacement ribbon; the obverse with crossed swords between the arms of the cross and a circular raised border of oak leaves on the obverse with a raised mobile swastika in the center; the reverse with a circular raised border of oak leaves bearing the institution date “1939” in raised numbering; measuring 47.85 mm (w) x 47.61 mm (h); weighing 20.6 grams.
2) An Easter Winter Campaign Medal, “Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42 medaille”; in silvered and patinated zink; with a large national eagle on the obverse clutching a swastika (“Hakenkreuz”) and a leftward facing Stahlhelm on the top with horizontally oriented stick grenade; the reverse “Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42” (Winter Battle in the East 1941/42) in all capital letters with a crossed sword and laurel wreath on the bottom; on a loop for suspension - marked “6” for “Fritz Zimmermann, Lüdenscheid”; with a mint and correct replacement ribbon; measuring 35.70 mm in diameter; weighing 20.0 grams.
3) A Commemorative Westwall Medal, “Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen”; oval zink alloy; on a loop for suspension (unmarked); with its correct original ribbon; the obverse with a crossed shovel and sword in the centre, and a concrete pillbox/bunker directly below, as well as with the German national eagle above, all within an oak leaf wreath; the reverse inscribed “Für Arbeit zum schutze Deutschlands” (For labour for the protection of Germany) within an oak wreath; measuring 33.11 mm x 45.35 mm; weighing 13.8 grams; in overall better than very fine condition.
