Germany, Wehrmacht. A Mixed Lot of Medals
(Medaillen). A mixed lot of three medals, including a War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronzed zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, the ring maker marked with an illegible Präsidialkanzlei code, measuring 48.28 mm (w) x 49.66 mm (w), weighing 21.7 grams, with some oxidation evident, in very fine condition; an Eastern Front Medal, constructed of silvered and patinated zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), above a crossed sword and laurel branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, the suspension ring maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “55” for J.E. Hammer & Söhne, measuring 35.85 mm (w) x 44.14 mm (h), weighing 18.0 grams, with some loss of finish evident, in very fine condition, and; an Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the obverse bearing central wreathed dates “1914-1918”, the reverse bearing an illegible maker’s mark, measuring 38.20 mm (w) x 42.97 mm (h), weighing 15.7 grams, with oxidation evident, in fair condition.
