Germany, Wehrmacht. A Mixed Lot of Medals and Badges
(Medaillen und Abzeichen). A mixed lot of four medals and badges, including an Eastern Front Medal, constructed of silvered and patinated zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), above crossed sword and laurel branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, unmarked, measuring 35.76 mm (w) x 44.20 mm (h), weighing 22.3 grams, with minor loss of finish evident in near extremely fine condition, accompanied by its ribbon bar, set on a 25 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, in near extremely fine condition; a War Merit Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with a wartime-applied horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a raised Maltese Cross with pebbled and bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing an inscription of “FÜR KRIEGSVERDIENST 1939” (“FOR WAR MERIT 1939”), unmarked, measuring 32.32 mm in diameter, weighing 17.1 grams (inclusive of ribbon), with some oxidation evident, in very fine condition; a Black Grade Wound Badge, constructed of blackened bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, the obverse with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 36.12 mm (w) x 43.76 mm (h), weighing 5.7 grams, with some denting and most of the blackened finish lost, in fair condition, and; a SA Sports Badge, constructed of bronze, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, overlaid by a sword on top of a mobile swastika, the reverse with a barrel hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “L. CHR. LAUER, NÜRNBERG-BERLIN”, measuring 43.78 mm (w) x 56.96 mm (h), weighing 18.1 grams, with bending of the catch evident, in near extremely fine condition.
