Germany, Wehrmacht. A Pair of Medals & Awards
(Wehrmacht Medaillen). A lot of two medals, including a War Merit Cross, II Class with Swords, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a central wreathed date of “1939”, the suspension loop maker marked with LDO code “73” for Frank Möhnert, Gablonz, measuring 49.12 mm (w) x 49.42 mm (h), weighing 23.1 grams, in near extremely fine condition; an Eastern Front Medal, constructed of silvered and patinated zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse consisting of a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse with an inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), above a crossed sword and laurel branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, the suspension loop maker marked with LDO code “4” for Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid, measuring 35.57 mm (w) x 44.17 mm (h), weighing 20.4 grams, most of the silver finish has been lost, in overall very fine condition; also including a ribbon bar with two decorations, featuring a War Merit Cross with Swords and an Eastern Front Medal, set on a 50 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, in very fine condition.
