Germany, Yugoslavia. A Unique Grouping of German, Yugoslav and Bulgarian Awards
This very unusual grouping of awards was recently obtained from the family in Germany. Third Reich, Luftwaffe observer's badge by Paul Meybauer, Berlin (marked PM on reverse), in zinc, engraved on reverse "D Rittau August 1942", worn example, with repair to pin-back assembly. Kingdom of Yugoslavia, 1930's period Pilot's badge, in silvered and gilded bronze, numbered "1520", textbook badge by maker "Knaus, Zagreb" (Yugoslav silver hallmark stamped on reverse of the wing tip), screws on reverse removed and converted to be worn on the German uniform. Bulgaria, 1930's period Pilot's badge, of typical Bulgarian manufacture in silvered and gilded bronze, partially enameled (maker's marks obscured), with pin back assembly on reverse, converted to be worn on the German uniform. Pair of medals, mounted as originally worn, German style: Luftwaffe 4 years long service award, in silvered iron, with early type of eagle attached to ribbon; Serbia/Yugoslavia, award for Zealous service, in gilded bronze. Footnote: This unusual grouping was likely awarded to to an Luftwaffe Officer who served in Yugoslavia and Bulgaria during 1930's in military administrative capacity.
