What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Footnote: Adolf Rammer was born on March 10, 1907 in Linz, Austria, where he grew up to work as a boatbuilder. Rammer was evidently an early believer in the fascist movement, joining the Hitler Youth as early as 1922 when it was still known as the Nationalsozialistische Arbeiterjugend (National Socialist Worker’s Youth). His formal entry into the NSDAP happened in 1928 as member no. 82,655. That year also saw him affiliate himself with the SA, but already in 1930 he switched to the SS. It needs to be remembered that while Hitler came to power in Germany in 1933, Austria would not be part of that development until the so called Anschluss (annexation) in 1938. Rammer quickly climbed the ranks and was promoted to Untersturmführer, working with Ernst Kaltenbrunner who would go on to become the Chief of the Reich Main Security Office in the rank of Obergruppenführer and General of the Police and the Waffen-SS.

Rammer had to put his activities for the SS on hold between 1936 and late 1937 due to family commitments. According to his official statement he had to look after his parents and siblings. In early 1938 he resumed his post. Unfortunately there is no information about his life after this point, with one exception: In early 1942 he applied for another small NSDAP honour badge as he had lost his original. His request was granted in May.
