This is a fine quality manufacture large version NSDAP Golden Party badge; in gilded tombac and red, white, and black enamels; horizontal pinback (previously repaired); marked “Deschler & Sohn”, “Ges. Gesch.” (Gesetzlich Geschützt), and numbered “6823” on the reverse; measuring 30.50 mm in diameter; weighing 13.3 grams; in very fine condition with the enamels unchipped but with moderate scratching; with photocopies of Willy Fritzsche’s NSDAP files.
Footnote: Willy (likely Wilhelm) Fritzsche was born on December 29, 1901 in Geisenhain in the county of Thüringen, and joined the NSDAP on September 1, 1927 as member 66823. He was a locksmith by trade and lived in Jena-Wenigen on Schulstraße 5/I when the NSDAP booklet was issued, but also lived in Jena-Ammerbach, Jena-Burhau, and Jena-Winzerla. - The Golden Party Badge of the NSDAP was established by a decree of Adolf Hitler on October 13, 1933 to honour those NSDAP members who had been a member as of November 9, 1933 with a membership number under 100,000. The last of these badges was awarded in 1944, with about 900 being awarded in total.
