Germany, NSDAP. A Long Service Award, II Class for 15 Years, with Party Membership Book to Dr. Paul Schmidt
(Dienstauszeichnung der NSDAP, II. Klasse für 15 Jahre mit NSDAP Mitgliedsbuch). Constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed and blue enameled arms joined together through the quadrants by stylized sun rays, the obverse bearing a central blue enameled disc overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, in turn superimposed over a circular oak leaf wreath, the reverse bearing a central blue enameled medallion bearing a silvered inscription of “TREUE FÜR FÜHRER UND VOLK” (“LOYALTY FOR FÜHRER AND PEOPLE”), unmarked, measuring 42.76 mm (w) x 47.06 mm (h), weighing 37.7 grams, in extremely fine condition; accompanied by an NSDAP membership book, constructed of a card stock binding with a faux red leather exterior liner, the cover bearing a gilt NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the interior with 48 paginated interior pages, named to “DR. PAUL SCHMIDT”, who was born on 17 July 1884 and joined the NSDAP on 4 October 1925, exited on 16 August 1926, and re-joined on 1 November 1928, issued in Munich on 1 December 1938 and featuring a certified photo of Schmidt, complete with membership due stamps for the years 1939 through 1945, measuring 105 mm (w) x 135 mm (h), with minor material fatigue, an interesting document to an individual who held NSDAP membership until the end of the Third Reich, in near extremely fine condition.
