Germany, NSDAP. A Long Service Award, III Class for 10 Years with Case, by Karl Wurster
(Dienstauszeichnung der NSDAP, III. Klasse für 10 Jahre mit Etui). Instituted 2 April 1939. (1939-1945 issue). Constructed of bronzed zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed arms joined through the quadrants by stylized rays, the obverse bearing a central circular oak leaf wreath, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central circular oak leaf wreath surrounding a raised inscription of “TREUE FÜR FÜHRER UND VOLK” (“LOYALTY FOR FÜHRER AND PEOPLE”), unmarked, measuring 43.04 mm (w) x 48.00 mm (h), weighing 39.5 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of two pieces of card stock with a faux brown leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the base stamped with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M1/34” for Karl Wurster, Markneukirchen, measuring 52 mm (w) x 94 mm (l) x 16 mm (h), demonstrating minor material fatigue throughout the case, in overall near extremely fine condition.
