Germany, Third Reich. A Rare Gau Essen Badge in Silver
(Gau-Traditionsabzeichen Essen in Silber). Instituted 1935 by Josef Terboven. (1933-1945 issue). Constructed of silver, the obverse consisting of a pair of crossed hammers bearing dates “1925- 1935”, overlaid by a crossed sword with a mobile swastika set into the hilt, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a rounded catch, stamped with a silver content number of “835”, measuring 20.00 mm (w) x 40.36 mm (h), weighing 4.8 grams, in extremely fine condition.
