Germany, SS. A Matching Set of Oak Leaf B Camouflage Reversible Mittens

(Waffen-SS Tarn-Handschuhe). A matching and extremely well-preserved set of Waffen-SS reversible winter mittens. Constructed of a padded and weatherproofed cotton/rayon blend, the exterior of each is dyed in an SS oak leaf B camouflage consisting of a grey base overlaid by irregular splotches of light and dark brown. They notably feature independent channels for the thumb and index finger, allowing the wearer to manipulate weapons and equipment during wear. The wrists feature hollow channels through which are looped white cotton drawstrings, allowing the mittens to be suspended from the wearer’s neck when not in use. They can be turned inside-out, with the interior finished in an unblemished white for use in winter field conditions. Unmarked, each mitten measures approximately 21 mm (w) x 40 cm (l) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating only minor material fatigue, in addition to some soiling of the winter side, they are in an overall extremely fine condition.
