Germany, Wehrmacht. A Luger P08 Holster, Owner-Attributed, by Wilhelm Brand
(Pistolentasche). A well-preserved Luger P08 pistol holster, constructed of multiple pieces of blackened leather. It consists of a shell contoured to accommodate the classic shape of the accompanying sidearm, reinforced along the seams with heavy hand stitching. It features a side pouch for the insertion of a spare ammunition clip, and it is topped by a retractable lid which fastens in place with a strap perforated with three eyelets, in turn meeting a functional magnetic metal buckle for secure closure. Stitched onto the reverse are two loops for belt attachment. The reverse also bears a number of marks, including a partially-legible maker’s mark of “WILH. BRAND, HEIDELBERG”, a manufacture date of “1938”, and a hand-etched owner’s name of “SCHUBERT”. The lid opens to reveal an additional handwritten name of “SCHUBERT”, with the interior presenting plain with the exception of a single integral strap. The holster measures 200 mm (w) x 260 mm (h). Minor, age-appropriate fatigue is evident to the leather, but no damage is evident and it is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
