A Mint Iron Cross 1939 First Class in its Original Case of Issue
A mint “Eisernes Kreuz 1939 1. Klasse”; a very illustrious silver frame with an extremely well preserved blackened iron core; with a tapered vertical pin and a barrel hinge and a flat wire catch; unmarked; measuring 44.10 mm x 43.97 mm; weighing 17.1 grams; mint condition. Accompanied by its original case of issue; constructed of heavy cardstock with a textured black faux leather (leatherette) exterior with an outline of an Iron Cross embossed in silver on the outside of the lid; lined interior lid with a recessed medal bed; functional but slightly hesitant spring catch with stud release; intact interior fabric hinge cover; functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 67 mm x 67 mm; mint/near mint condition.
