A Mint Iron Cross 1939 Second Class by Julius Maurer with Packet by Deschler & Sohn
A mint “Eisernes Kreuz 1939 2. Klasse” with attractive dark patina from age; white metal cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a white metal ribbed border; on loop for suspension; marked “138” for “Julius Maurer of Oberstein” on the loop; with its mint and unused period-original ribbon; the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm; the reverse with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbering on the lower arm; measuring 44.24 mm x 44.41 mm; weighing 17.3 grams. Accompanied by paper wrappings and a packet of issue; constructed of blue paper; with “Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse 1939” printed in black on the obverse, and “Deschler & sohn, Müchen 9” printed in black on the reverse; measuring 133 mm x 104 mm; overall mint condition. (C: 163)
