A mint Iron Cross 1939 Second Class by a scarce and desirable maker; silver frame with a blackened iron core (magnetic); on loop for suspension (marked “40” for Berg & Nolte, Lüdenscheid); with its period-original ribbon; measuring 43.80 mm x 43.69 mm; weighing 16.6 grams; with the core loose, but otherwise mint condition. Accompanied by its original packet of issue; the obverse embossed in Gothic script “Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse 1939” in black ink; the reverse blank; measuring 130 mm x 102 mm; mint condition.
