An Iron Cross 1939 First Class “Eisernes Kreuz 1939 1. Klasse”; white metal cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened brass core (nonmagnetic) within a white metal ribbed border; the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm; the reverse plain, with a banjo style pinback; barrel hinge; and a flat wire catch; the obverse of the pin maker marked “L/58” for “Glaser & Söhne, Dresden”; measuring 44.36 mm x 44.33 mm; weighing 16.8 grams. Accompanied by its case of issue; constructed of heavy pressed paper with a textured black faux leather (leatherette) exterior; an outline of the Iron Cross First Class embossed in silver on the exterior of the lid; lined interior lid; slotted medal bed for secure seating of the Iron Cross; functional spring catch with stud release; intact interior fabric hinge cover; functional exterior metal hinge; overall better than very fine condition.
