A “Eisernes Kreuz 1939 1. Klasse”; white metal cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a white metal ribbed border; the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm; the reverse plain, with a slender banjo style pinback, barrel hinge, and a flat wire catch; marked “4” on the pin for “Steinhauer & Lück of Lüdenscheid”; measuring 43.70 mm x 43.48 mm; weighing 19.0 grams; with light loss of the black finish on the core of the badge; light patina on the frame from age; very fine condition.
