Germany. An Iron Cross 1939 First Class, Scarce Cloth Version
This is a textbook example of a fine quality detailed manufacture of cloth version of an Iron Cross 1939 First Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1939 1. Klasse); the obverse is constructed of fine hand embroidered twisted silver aluminum bullion threadings forming the signature white metal cross pattée with a grey woven core replacing the blackened iron core, with a raised central mobile swastika and the re-institution date “1939” on the lower arm; on a black wool background with a partially preserved black paper backer; measuring 48 mm x 48 mm; extremely fine condition.
