Germany. An Iron Cross 1939 2nd Class, by Anton Schenkel's Nachfolger
An “Eisernes Kreuz 1939 2. Klasse”; white metal cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a white metal ribbed border; on loop for suspension - marked “27” for “Anton Schenkel’s Nachfolger of Vienna”; with a full length replacement ribbon (with some residue stuck to the ribbon from previous collector’s mounting); the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm; the reverse with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbering on the lower arm; measuring 43.88 mm x 43.98 mm; weighing 19.3 grams; with dark patina on the frame from age, in overall very fine condition.
