Germany, Wehrmacht. A Clasp to the Iron Cross 1939 I Class with Case, Type II
(Spange zum Eisernen Kreuz im Etui). A clasp constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of a national eagle clutching a large wreathed mobile swastika with a shield at the bottom of the badge, bearing the date 1939, the reverse with a functional hinge/catch assembly, unmarked, measuring 44.24 mm (w) x 30.44 mm (h), weighing 8.6 grams. Accompanied by a presentation case of issue (does not fit this clasp), constructed of heavy cardstock, with a textured faux leather (leatherette) exterior, embossed with a Clasp to the Iron Cross 1939, with a lined interior lid, a functional spring catch and stud release, interior fabric hinge cover, and functional exterior metal hinge, measuring 69 mm (w) x 70 mm (h) x 18 mm (h), and in extremely fine condition.
