A German Cross in Gold by Fritz Zimmermann of Stuttgart; Light Version
A fine quality manufacture German Cross in Gold by a desirable maker; with four rivets on the reverse; double-overlaid sunburst pattern with eight points; the center with a black enameled rotated swastika (note the slight chipping of the enamels on the bottom hand of the Hakenkreuz); within a stamped circular wreath impressed with oak leaves, ribbons, and the introduction year (1941); inner and outer sides of the wreath feature a thin red painted line with a silver core in the middle; broad vertical pinback with a functional hinge/catch assembly; marked “20” (Fritz Zimmermann, Stuttgart) on the reverse of the pin; measuring 63.10 mm x 63.11 mm; weighing 45.2 grams; in worn but overall better than extremely fine condition.
