A scarce “Eisernes Kreuz 1939 2. Klasse” with a rounded “3” on the obverse and reverse; a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) with the border of the frame ribbed; on loop for suspension - unmarked; with its slightly faded period original ribbon; the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm; the reverse with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbering on the lower arm; measuring 44.18 mm x 44.31 mm, and 4.79 mm thick; weighing 19.9 grams; attractive dark patina on the frame from age, with light wear to the core; in overall extremely fine condition.
