Germany. An Iron Cross 1939 First Class in its Presentation Case; Brass Core Version
An “Eisernes Kreuz 1939 1. Klasse”; a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened brass (non-magnetic) within a ribbed border; the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm; the reverse plain, with a slender banjo style pinback, a barrel hinge, and a flat wire catch; an unmarked example; measuring 43.92 mm (w) x 43.82 mm (h). Accompanied by its presentation case; constructed of heavy pressed paper; with a lightly textured black faux leather (leatherette) exterior; with an Iron Cross embossed on the exterior of the lid in silver; lined interior lid, with a slotted medal bed, a functional spring catch and stud release, as well as a functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 69 mm (w) x 70 mm (h); the silver frame of the cross well preserved, with a light flake on the painted core, thus revealing the brass underneath; in overall near extremely fine condition.
