A II Class award, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “122” for J. J. Stahl, Straßburg, measuring 43.74 mm (w) x 48.68 mm (h), weighing 20.5 grams, accompanied by its award document, constructed of off-white paper with black ink, named to “OBERLEUTNANT ZUR SEE OTTO KEIL”, issued on board a vessel on 20 April 1944, certified by the handwritten signature of Vizeadmiral Hans Stohwasser (Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, 30 November 1940), measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), the decoration with oxidation and loss of finish visible throughout the core, in overall very fine condition.
2. A I Class award, constructed of iron and silver, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, the reverse of the pinback maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “21” for Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, measuring 44.34 mm (w) x 44.53 mm (h), weighing 17.7 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a silvered and embossed Cross Pattée, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted beige velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 68 mm (w) x 68 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), also accompanied by its award document, constructed of off-white paper with black ink, named to Keil and issued on board a vessel on 1 May 1945, certified by the handwritten signature of Vizeadmiral August Thiele (Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, 18 January 1941; with Oak Leaves, 14 April 1945), measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), in overall near extremely fine condition.
