(1939 Eisernes Kreuz I. Klasse). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939-1945 issue). A Cross Pattée of multi-piece construction, with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver border, the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm, the reverse plain with a barrel hinge and vertical banjo-style pinback meeting an elongated flat wire catch, marked 26 on pin denoting B.H.Mayer manufacture, measuring 44.47 mm (w) x 44.31 mm (h), weighing 17.3 grams, in very fine condition.
