Germany, Wehrmacht. A 1939 Iron Cross II Class, Spanish-Made for Blue Division Veterans
(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 II. Klasse eines spanischen Freiwilligen der Blauen Division). Constructed of silvered and blackened bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with a classic Spanish-style buckle and pinback, consisting of a one-piece Cross Pattée with a blackened core set within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, unmarked but demonstrating all of the characteristics of postwar Spanish manufacture for Blue Division veterans, measuring 45.15 mm (w) x 45.31 mm (h), weighing 22.8 grams (inclusive of ribbon and buckle), in extremely fine condition.
