A rare cloth version of the 1939 Iron Cross I Class, constructed of an octagonal white wool backer which retains a dark grey paper stock reverse liner, the obverse bearing a Cross Pattée consisting of a dark grey threaded frame with its inner and outer edges trimmed with twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire piping, the core constructed of black doeskin wool, with a central silver aluminum wire mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939” of identical construction, unmarked, measuring 48 mm (w) x 47 mm (h) overall, a rare cloth version in extremely fine condition.
