Germany, Heer. A Cased 14th Panzer Division Commemorative Medal by Deschler & Sohn
(14. Panzer Division Erinnerungsmedaille). Constructed of silvered aluminum, the obverse features a bust of a leftward-facing Wehrmacht soldier above a small mobile swastika and engraver mark of “RK”, surrounded by an inscription reading “PANZERAUFKLÄRUNGSABTEILUNG 40” (“Armoured Reconnaissance Battalion 40”), the reverse presents with a central odal rune unit insignia flanked by the dates “15.8.40” and “15.4.42” topped by the unit designation “14. PANZER DIV.”, dual laurel branches complete the bottom half of the reverse, maker marked “Deschler, München” on reverse, measuring 50 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition, accompanied by period original case, constructed of cardstock with pebbled faux leather blue exterior, functional magnetic metal spring catch with stud release, functional metal hinge, interior lid lined with satin-type material, depressed medal bed, maker marked “Deschler & Sohn, München” on interior of lid, measuring 105 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
