Germany, Wehrmacht. A Spanish Volunteer Medal, Spanish-Made for Veterans
(Erinnerungsmedaille für die spanischen Freiwilligen im Kampf gegen den Bolschewismus). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a central sword, overlaid by shield bearing Heer and Falange insignia, topped by a Stahlhelm, and situated above a swastika flanked by clutches of laurel leaves, the reverse bearing an inscription of “DIVISIÓN ESPAÑOLA DE VOLUNTARIOS EN RUSIA” (“DIVISION OF SPANISH VOLUNTEERS IN RUSSIA”), above an Iron Cross flanked by laurel and oak leaf branches, unmarked, measuring 32.68 mm in diameter, weighing 13.6 grams, with minor tarnishing evident, a Spanish-made example commonly distributed to Blue Division veterans c. 1965 in extremely fine condition.
