Germany, Wehrmacht. An Eastern People’s Medal, II Class in Silver with Swords
(Ostvolkmedaille II. Klasse in Silber mit Schwertern). Constructed of silvered zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of an eight-pointed ribbed star, the obverse bearing a central wreathed rosette, with crossed swords through the centrepiece, unmarked, measuring 39.56 mm (w) x 45.30 mm (h), weighing 14.6 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its period original package of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the exterior bearing an inscription of “TAPFERKEITS-AUSZEICHNUNG FÜR ANGEHÖRIGE DER OSTVÖLKER, 2. KLASSE IN SILBER”, measuring 78 mm (w) x 110 mm (h), with loss of finish evident to the medal, in overall near extremely fine condition.
