Germany, Wehrmacht. A Spanish Volunteer Medal, by Deschler & Son
(Erinnerungsmedaille für die spanischen Freiwilligen im Kampf gegen den Bolschewismus). A Spanish Volunteer Medal, constructed of bronzed zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a central raised sword overlaid by shields bearing raised Heer and Falange insignia, topped by a Stahlhelm, and situated above a swastika flanked by clutches of laurel leaves, the reverse bearing an inscription of “DIVISIÓN ESPAÑOLA DE VOLUNTARIOS EN RUSIA” (“DIVISION OF SPANISH VOLUNTEERS IN RUSSIA”), above an Iron Cross topped by laurel branches, unmarked but demonstrating the physical characteristics of manufacture by Deschler & Sohn, Munich, measuring 32.57 mm in diameter, weighing 14.0 grams, a rare example in extremely fine condition.
