Germany, Heer. A Medal for the Winter Campaign in Russia 1941/1942 and Manufacturer’s Packet, by E. Ferd Weidmann
(Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42). Instituted on 26 May 1942. A medal constructed of zink with a gun-metal coloured coating, the concave obverse features a NSDAP eagle grasping a swastika with a laurel branch behind, the reverse shows the text “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), above a crossed sword and branch, a helmet and stick grenade rest below the medal loop, the outer ring finished in a polished silver colour, maker mark “19” on loop for E. Ferd Weidmann of Frankfurt, measures 36.22 mm (w) x 44.72 mm (h), accompanied by period original red ribbon with a central white-black-white stripe, in addition to the manufacturer’s paper packet with the name of the medal stamped on the front and the maker name on the reverse, all items in extremely fine condition.
