Constructed of zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, constructed of zink, the obverse with a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse with an inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), measuring 36.09 mm (w) x 43.87 mm (h), weighing 17.7 grams, accompanied by its period original pocket of issue, constructed of paper stock, the obverse with an inscripton of “MEDAILLE WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN ‘1941/42’ (OSTMEDAILLE)”, the reverse with a maker’s mark of “ARBEITSGEMEINSCHAFT DER GRAVEUR- GOLD- UND SILVERSCHMIEDE-INNUNGEN, HANAU”, measuring 59 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
