Germany, Wehrmacht. An Italian-German Africa Campaign Medal, by Lorioli
(Medaille für den Italienisch-Deutschen Feldzug in Afrika). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised depiction of two gladiators grappling with a crocodile, the reverse bearing a central raised depiction of the Arco dei Fileni, flanked by a fasces and swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “ITALIAN-GERMAN CAMPAIGN IN AFRICA” in both German and Italian, the obverse marked “LORILO, MILANO” and “DE MARCHIS”, measuring 30.77 mm (w) x 35.28 mm (h), weighing 13.9 grams, oxidation is evident throughout in addition to significant fatigue of the ribbon, a field-worn example in very fine condition.
