What's a max bid?

A Silver Grade Close Combat Clasp by C. E Juncker

A fine quality example of a second war German silver grade “Nahkampfspange” by this maker; in silvered feinzink; the obverse with a national eagle and a bayonet and hand grenade in the centerpiece, with sun rays emanating from the centre of the left and right sides, and with four oak leaves and two acorns on each side; the reverse plain, with a square magnetic replacement backing plate; horizontal pinback with a barrel hinge and a flat wire catch on the reverse; marked “Fec. W.E. Peekhaus, Berlin” and “Ausf. C.F. Juncker, Berlin” on reverse (see footnote for explanation for misspelled maker mark); slightly vaulted; measuring 96.49 mm x 25.56 mm; weighing 25.7 grams; a fine quality example in near mint condition.

Footnote: This clasp suffers from the maker’s mark being misspelled as the second initial is clearly an “F” instead of the appropriate “E”, since it is marked “Ausf. C.F. Juncker, Berlin” instead of “Ausf. C.E. Juncker, Berlin”. Whether this was intentional or an honest mistake is unknown.
