A Bronze Grade Close Combat Clasp by Friedrich Linden of Lüdenscheid
A second war German “Nahrkampfspange”; in bronzed zink; the obverse with a national eagle and a bayonet, and a hand grenade in the centerpiece, with sun rays emanating from the center of the left and right sides, and with four oak leaves and two acorns on each side; the reverse plain, missing its square magnetic backing plate; horizontal banjo style pinback with a barrel hinge and a flat wire catch; marked “Fec. W. E. Peekhaus, Berling”, and maker marked “FLL” for “Friedlich Linden, Lüdenscheid” manufacture; measuring 97.50 mm x 25.93 mm; weighing 32.0 grams; with all of its original bronze finish worn off; in overall fine condition.
