Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Bronze Grade, by Friedrich Linden
(Nahkampfspange in Bronze). Of multi-piece construction, composed of bronzed zink with a magnetic metal backing plate, the obverse with a German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika and a bayonet and hand grenade in the centerpiece, with sun rays emanating from the centre of the left and right sides, and with four oak leaves and two acorns on each side, the reverse plain with a horizontal banjo-style pinback with a barrel hinge and a round wire catch, marked on reverse with “FEC. W.E. Peekhaus, Berlin” for the designer and “FLL” logo of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 96.72 mm (w) x 25.94 mm (h) and weighing 36.5 grams, in better than very fine condition.
