Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Bronze Grade, by Friedrich Linden
(Nahkampfspange in Bronze). Constructed of bronze feinzink, the obverse consisting of a central square oak leaf wreath, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, flanked on each side by four oak leaves and sun rays with acorns, the reverse with a barrel hinge and horizontal banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, designer marked “PEEKHAUS, BERLIN”, maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 97.12 mm (w) x 25.96 mm (h), weighing 35.7 grams, the clasp is missing its backplate and has lost its bronze finish with accompanying wear, in overall very fine condition.
