Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Silver Grade, by Friedrich Linden
(Nahkampfspange in Silber). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a central square oak leaf wreath, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, above a magnetic metal backplate, flanked on each side by four oak leaves and sun rays with acorns, the reverse with a barrel hinge and horizontal banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, designer marked “PEEKHAUS, BERLIN” and maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 96.56 mm (w) x 25.85 mm (h), weighing 32.2 grams, demonstrating a total replacement of its original finish, in very fine condition.
