Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Silver Grade, by Friedrich Linden of Lüdenscheid
(Nahkampfspange in Silber). Constructed of silvered vaulted zink; the obverse with a national eagle and a bayonet and hand grenade in the centerpiece, with sun rays emanating from the centre of the left and right sides, and with four oak leaves and two acorns on each side; the reverse plain, with a square magnetic backing plate; horizontal pinback (magnetic) with a crimped barrel hinge and a crimped round wire catch (magnetic); marked “Peekhaus” for the designer, and maker marked “FLL” for “Friedrich Linde, Lüdenscheid” on the reverse; measuring 97.16 mm (w) x 25.90 mm (h); weighing 33.1 grams; a slightly loose hinge; in overall fine condition.
