Germany, Third Reich. An Austrian Anschluss Medal, with Case
(Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13. März 1938). A circular silvered bronze medal, on loop for suspension from its-period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, the obverse with two raised male figures, the one on the right bearing the German flag in his left hand, with his right hand placed around the shoulders of the figure on the left, with broken chains around his right arm with the German eagle directly below, the reverse with the date “13. MÄRZ 1938” centrally and circumscribed “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), measuring 32.25 mm in diameter, weighing 17.0 grams with ribbon attached, accompanied by its period original case, constructed of cardstock, with a faux red leather exterior, the exterior embossed with a golden national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with white satin-type interior lid liner and a recessed medal bed, a functional magnetic metal spring catch with stud release, functional magnetic metal hinge, measuring 49 mm (w) x 101 mm (h), in overall near very fine condition.
